Set for national release on Friday 3rd November 2006, The Dublin Gospel Choir are delighted to announce their new album, titled “Moving On”. Recorded during the months of July and August, the album boasts what is probably the strongest gospel material ever to be produced in this country, while also rivaling some of the better known gospel recordings released internationally in recent times.
Moving On is primed to supersede the success of Ireland’s favourite gospel choir’s previous albums and given that this album has secured national retail distribution, it looks even more likely. And of course, it helps that the album is a high quality recording. Containing a total of twelve tracks, all of which bear the distinctive trademark DGC sound, the album includes stand-out songs such as a gospel re-working of Primal Scream’s Movin On Up and the choir’s superb rendition of Labi Siffre’s anthemic Something Inside so Strong. Other highlights include Shake Yourself Loose which is guaranteed to make even the worst dancer get on the floor, and Loud Child, a soaring, uplifting piece written by a member of the choir.
Now celebrating their 10th anniversary, in recent times the Dublin Gospel Choir have recorded and performed with the likes of James Brown, The Chieftains, John Legend, Chris de Burgh and Paddy Casey. Another highlight was performing on the Main Stage at Electric Picnic 2005, and being invited back for 2006 to play both the Main Stage and also The Big Tree Stage where they collaborated with Damien Rice and Paul Noonan amongst others.
The album is being released to stores around Ireland on November 3rd, with an official launch on Tuesday November 7th at Crawdaddy, Dublin 2. Check back to this site for more details on digital release dates etc.
Sample clips of all the tracks are available on our music page.
